Released on Session (Germany) in 1970.
* I do not own this on vinyl. I only wish I did.
Today we raid the digi-crates and bring out one of my favorite jazz albums that I found on the internet a few years back on a now defunct jazz/funk blog.
Smoke was a Palo Alto, California based jazz group from the late 60s that released one self titled album on the German label Session in 1970. Smoke featured Kenny Washington on percussion; Fred Berry on trumpet, piano, and percussion; Chris Cristy on bass; Woody Webb on vibes; and John Felder on drums.
There isn't that much info out there about the record expect that it's extremely rare and a favorite collectors item amongst jazz and psychedelic music enthusiasts. Once you hear the 14+ minute track, Luxury, you'll hear why.
Here are two of my favorite tracks from the record. If you are interested in the album, you can hit me up on twitter.
